I am so fortunate to do what I do. I love weddings. I’m so honored to be invited into one of the most important days of someone’s life. Each wedding is always a happy occasion, a celebration. I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do.
I have been working with weddings since 1987. And even before that.
I was raised in the restaurant business, and we had a large extended family. So there always seemed to be some thing to celebrate.
As I decided to try something else, I soon found myself styling and making up the bride and her attendants. Quite often, when asked to stay on site for the entire event, I would begin helping the caterers or florists, anyone just to keep busy.
After a short break, and working and traveling for a resort company, I came home and wanted to do something similar here. I had been coordinating events & shows, to certain themes. And someone suggested I work with weddings again, and that "wedding" could be the theme. It was an easy transition as I had worked in the business before and loved it. Now I’ve been coordinating since 1998.
Sometimes I think that I was always meant to be around weddings. I understand the catering side of it; I can do (or fix) hair and make up; my mother was a seamstress so I’ve been able to fix many little glitches; I taught ballroom dance for 6 years so can choreograph your dance; have taken cake decorating – just in case of an oops!; had to work with sound systems (and can DJ) while at the resort. I was trained to handle up to 1,000 people at a time. I feel it is my experience in so many different areas that sets me apart from other planners/coordinators. Jack of all trades, master of one … Weddings!
